Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

This is our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. It’s easy to prepare and you wouldn’t even know these cookies were gluten free if you didn’t bake them yourself. Serve them with tall glasses of cold milk (or soy milk, if you don’t tolerate dairy well).

When purchasing the ingredients to make these gluten free chocolate chip cookies (or any other gluten free dessert recipes), make sure all the ingredients you buy are gluten free. For instance, chocolate sometimes contains small amounts of gluten, so make sure the chocolate chips you buy are gluten free.

Combine the gluten free flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and xanthan gum in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.

In another bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, and white sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Then add eggs and vanilla. Beat until well-mixed.

Add flour mixture a little at a time, continuing to mix, until all is well-mixed.

Drop chocolate chip cookie dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for ten minutes.

Gluten Free All Purpose Flour Blend

For the chocolate chip cookie recipe above, and for any other gluten free dessert recipes calling for an all purpose flour blend, you can use the following blend.

Combine flours in a large bowl and mix well. Store in a tightly covered container.

If you prefer to purchase a ready made gluten free flour blend for use in your gluten free dessert recipes, a number of companies offer such a blend, including Authentic Foods, Bob’s Red Mill, Domata Living, and Ener-G Foods. Look for these at your favorite grocery store or health food store. You can also order them online.

Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Mix

If you don’t want to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch, you can purchase gluten free cookie mixes from a number of companies, including Arrowhead Mills, Betty Crocker, Bob’s Red Mill, Cause You’re Special, Gluten-Free Pantry, Glutino, Good Eats by Gayle, Pamela’s Products, Pure Pantry, and Tastefully Gluten Free. Look for these at your favorite grocery store or health food store. You can also order them online, of course.

When purchasing gluten free cookie mixes, make sure you read the labels carefully. Many of these companies make both gluten free products and products that contain gluten, and you want to make sure you’re purchasing the right one.

Ready Made Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies

If you don’t feel like baking, you can buy ready made gluten free cookies. A number of companies make chocolate chip cookies that are gluten free, including Aunt Gussie’s, Ener-G Foods, Enjoy Life, Gillian’s Foods, Glenn Foods, Gluten Free and Fabulous, Glutino, Ian’s, Kinnikinnick Foods, Lucy’s, Nana’s, and Pamela’s Products. As when purchasing gluten free cookie mixes, make sure you read the labels carefully because many of these companies make both gluten free cookies and cookies that contain gluten.
